Monday Mantra: Hard work pays off
How badly you want something dictates how hard you'll work for it.
I believe that if you want something you have to work for it to earn it. I also believe hard work pays off.
But hard work isn't for the lighthearted.
Because hard work often dishes out the hard stuff - doubt and fear, misfortune and mistakes, sacrifice and struggle, sleepless nights and heartbreaking setbacks. It's enough to make a lot of people give up. And a lot of people do.
I've listened to people talk about their lofty intentions with zero follow through year after year.
I've seen people set half assed goals and dive in unprepared and unwilling to get uncomfortable and give up when the first obstacle comes along.
I've seen people wait for good things (and Mr Right) to fall into their lap without lifting a finger.
I've seen people ride on the coattails of their natural talents as if talent alone is a guaranteed precursor for success.
And then there is the minority, those people who saddle up after losing big determined to keep going even if it means starting over.
When I reflect on everything I have seen, done and achieved so far, I recognise passion, drive, perseverance and a lot of hard work were involved. I know there's a lot more I want to do and a lot I can do to take it to the next level.
The road to the good life is very rarely an easy road but experience tells me if i am really clear on what I want and am willing to put in the work, then the payoff will come.
What do you want so badly, you'll do whatever it takes to get it?
