Monday mantra: One day at a time
Are you making things harder than they need to be?
Do you ever feel like your juggling multiple roles, spurred on by some obsessive sense of obligation to exceed the alpha standards you’ve created for yourself in each of those roles, yet you walk away feeling more inferior and inadequate then victorious?
It's one thing to live by your highest standards and quite another to live by impossible standards.
It's time to take a deep breath and give your exhausted self a break.
Whilst it's very noble of you to want to be the greatest partner, parent, sibling, child, friend, chef, chauffeur, supporter, boss, employee, leader, creator, and all-round good doer, it's also very exhausting and taxing on your emotions and can lead to less than desirable behaviour. No doubt, the exact opposite of your original intentions.
And so a vicious cycle starts to take effect.
The only way you can be truly devoted to being the best version of yourself is to live your life one day at a time. And know that some days will be better than others.
I think that's the whole point. Otherwise, how else would we grow and know what gives our lives the deepest meaning?
Before you go, how can you simplify your intentions and expectations to be more present and self accepting? Leave a comment below. I'd love to hear from you.
